Local Prison Warden Arrested For Price Tag Tampering At Walmart

LUBBOCK, Texas – 48-year-old Michael Miller, Senior Warden at the Wallace Unit, was arrested on August 14th and accused of fraud and theft for a sneaky crime involving price tag tampering at Walmart on 114th Street and Quaker Ave.

What Happened?

Miller was arrested at Walmart after allegedly using self-checkout to scan multiple items under a barcode meant for embroidery floss, with a price tag set at 53 cents per item. The total for Miller’s items at checkout should have been $137.90, but because he snaned the embroidery floss instead, his total came in under $5.

Naughty Warden

Miller didn’t sit in jail long before he was bailed out. I can only imagine how unnerving it would have been to sit in jail, likely surrounded by criminals you’d served as warden to in the past. I don’t know about you guys, but I hear inmates frown upon cops and prison employees alike when they end up in a pickle and get sent to the big house.

Career in Ruins

Miller had a 27-year career with TDCJ and was recently made Senior Warden of the Wallace Unit last April.

TDCJ Speaks Out

A spokesperson for the Texas Department of Criminal Justice made a statement on Miller’s alleged crime, saying, “The agency is deeply disappointed, and his conduct is entirely unacceptable. TDCJ is taking action to separate him from the agency.”

Even the Senior Warden of a prison is capable of committing crimes. Let that be a lesson to everyone. I’m just wondering how many times he got away with it before he was caught…
