The Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) has announced plans to allocate an additional $800 million this fiscal year for infrastructure improvements at VA health care facilities nationwide, including the Reno VA Medical Center. This funding is part of the Veterans Health Administration’s Non-Recurring Maintenance (NRM) program, which aims to enhance the safety and effectiveness of patient care.
The additional funds, sourced from savings achieved through various Veterans Health Administration reform efforts, will increase the total NRM program spending for fiscal year 2025 to $2.8 billion, marking a nearly $500 million increase from fiscal year 2024.
At the Reno VA Medical Center, the planned improvements include replacing the flooring in the Operating Room, Cath Lab, and Sterile Processing Service, securing a Project Management/Construction Management contract for FY25, replacing fire alarm systems, conducting a study and survey on cast iron fittings and A307 bolts replacements, preparing the site for a Computerized Tomography (CT)-1 replacement, providing new utility services across Kirman Avenue, and replacing the Building 12 heat exchanger system and controls…
