Washington state’s 1st hybrid-electric ferry faces temporary setback due to motor issues

SEATTLE — Washington state’s first hybrid-electric ferry has been temporarily taken out of service due to mechanical issues.

The Wenatchee ferry, which rejoined the fleet on July 24 after a 22-month conversion to a hybrid-electric system, experienced motor issues as it was docking at Seattle’s Colman Dock shortly after 10 a.m. on Friday, according to WSF.
