Armory Park in downtown Tucson to close for renovations

TUCSON, Ariz. (13 News) – Armory Park in downtown Tucson is closing on Sept. 2 for a year-long renovation project.

It comes from Proposition 407, which was approved back in 2018 and dedicated $1.5 million to making changes to the historic park.

The closure is receiving backlash from some groups in Tucson who argue it is one of the only green spaces in downtown Tucson. It is also occupied by many of the city’s unhoused, who will be moved out of the area…
