Hanahan man accused of hitting trooper during traffic stop to appear in court next month

ORANGEBURG, S.C. (WCBD) — The Hanahan man accused of fatally hitting a South Carolina Highway Patrol trooper during a traffic stop is set to appear in court next month.

Anthony Aydlette, 45, was charged with driving under suspension in connection with the August 10 crash. Additional charges are possible, according to officials.

Trooper First Class Dennis Ricks was conducting a traffic stop on I-26 at mile marker 166 when he was struck by a box truck around 2 a.m. He was taken to a nearby hospital, where he died from his injuries three days later.
