MOBILE, Ala. (WALA) – An Oregon man convicted of threatening a church pastor will serve a year of home confinement but avoid prison, a federal judge ruled Thursday.
A jury in May found Richard David Colvin, 61, guilty of transmission of an interstate threat. It was Colvin’s second trial, after a jury had found him not guilty of one count and deadlocked on another.
U.S. District Judge Terry Moorer sentenced Colvin to time already served in jail and ordered him to be supervised by the U.S. Probation Office. The first year will be under home confinement and electronic monitoring, and Colvin must receive mental health treatment.
