Officers save life of woman stabbed in Oakland: PD

(KRON) — A woman suffering from multiple stab wounds was rescued by Oakland Police Department officers on the 1600 block of 81st Avenue in Oakland around 6:30 p.m. on Aug. 19.

“Officers immediately provided lifesaving aid, applying tourniquets and pressure to control bleeding and stabilize the victim [an] ambulance transported the victim to an area hospital,” OPD said.

According to OPD, the initial medical aid given by the officers saved the woman’s life.

“OPD Officers S. Durkin, L. Roman, and E. Varela’s quick actions reflect the Department’s commitment to public safety,” OPD said. “Swift and decisive efforts likely saved the victim’s life, and the medical staff last listed her in stable condition.”

While officers were treating the victim, the suspect returned to the scene armed with a knife, OPD said. Officers arrested the suspect without further injury.
