Newspaper delivery lady seeks refuge at RaceTrac from man with laser-pointing gun

A Lady Lake man was arrested after following a newspaper delivery lady on her route and pointing a gun with a laser at her.

Deputies responded to RaceTrac, located at 324 U.S. Hwy. 27, Lady Lake, to meet with a woman who fled from an armed 42-year-old Ronald Lamar Jones around 3:10 a.m. Sunday, according to an arrest report from the Lake County Sheriff’s Office.

The woman stated she was delivering newspapers in the area of Grays Airport Road when a white Subaru SUV came behind her and followed her for about 10 minutes. The vehicle was “acting crazy,” so she stopped her car and got out with a newspaper to try to explain she was simply delivering newspapers. Jones then exited his vehicle and got into a verbal argument with her, the report said.

The delivery lady told him she was going to leave and call 911, to which he pulled out a black handgun with a red laser. He pointed it at her, threatening to shoot her. He ultimately parked in front of a residence on Grays Airport Road, and she fled the area in fear for her life while calling 911, the report said…
