(KRON) — The Santa Rosa Police Department said its gang crimes team is investigating a 19-year-old driver who chased and charged into a bicyclist, ran over the victim’s bike, and was “throwing gang signs” the entire incident.

Santa Rosa police said patrol officers went to the area of Sebastopol Road and West Avenue at 2:30 p.m. Wednesday to check the report of a disturbance. The victim told police he was in a confrontation with a motorist who tried running him over on his bicycle.
“The suspect driver of the vehicle began yelling at the victim, causing the victim to turn into a parking lot in an effort to evade the suspect,” said SRPD. “The suspect vehicle followed and closed the distance on the victim. As the victim rode through the parking lot the suspect drove his vehicle into the back of the victim’s bicycle, striking the victim and knocking him off his bike. The suspect then drove over the downed bicycle and stopped a short distance away.”
The victim told investigators the driver then made “gang related challenges” toward him before he was able to get away and contact police. They suffered minor injuries in the incident…
