Historic marker unveiling to be held on North Front Street

WILMINGTON, N.C. (WECT) – The City of Wilmington is inviting the public to a historic marker unveiling that will honor Furniture Row.

The Stein family opened the G. Stein Furniture Company in 1929 and served the community on North Fourth Street. The store sat alongside eight other family-owned stores that would make the block known as Furniture Row.

“It was about more than just furniture, though. It was about families working side by side, friendly competitors helping one another, and small businesses building lasting ties in our city‚” city organizers wrote on the Wilmington Urban Area MPO’s Facebook page…
