Marion residents express support, some concerns in recent survey for aquatic park

MARION, Iowa — About half of Marion residents who completed a recent survey would support a more than $40 million aquatic center project.

The project would include the construction of a new lap pool, leisure pool, lazy river, slide complex, and other infrastructure and street additions. It would be located on 31st Street and Munier Road, with a new street connecting to 35th Street.

The first plan option would cost about $41 million, with a second option costing about $46 that would add a wave pool.

City council also heard alternative plans at its work session Tuesday to add a playground, pavilion, mat racer slide, mini pitches, ninja cross system, and pickleball courts. It would cost a total of about $51 million to complete the entire extended plan…
