After several failed bonds, Canyon County leaders are moving ahead on plans for a new jail facility for women inmates.
The county’s budget for fiscal year 2026, approved by the commissioners on August 13, directs $7.5 million toward the new facility at the county’s Pond Ln. property, located at 15552 Highway 20/26. During budget workshops, leaders discussed the likelihood of an additional $2.5 million being used for the facility in the following fiscal year budget for a total of $10 million over two years.
The budget for fiscal year 2026, which runs from October 1, 2025, to September 30, 2026, is about $162.2 million.
