Anchorage School District hires 27 more teachers after $10M state funding boost

The Anchorage School District is hiring more teachers after receiving nearly $10 million in additional state funding, following legislators’ override of Gov. Mike Dunleavy’s veto on education funding.

Before the school year began, the district approved spending about $4 million to hire 20 new teachers. This week, the school board authorized nearly $3.6 million more to bring on 27 additional teachers.
