The Ohio State football program has a lot of games announced by Gus Johnson. Since FOX created the Big Noon Kickoff window, they have had the Buckeyes in that window as much as possible. Johnson is their lead college football announcer, so he usually does their games.
The Game is always a FOX broadcast. The Ohio State Buckeyes and Michigan get the top FOX broadcast every single year, meaning that Johnson is the announcer for all of those games. Unfortunately, Johnson has slipped in quality as an announcer in the last few years.
Johnson now mispronounces names, forgets the names of players, and doesn’t call games with the same excitement as he once did. He is no longer the favorite announcer of a lot of college football fans, including mine. A recent interview he did shows why he should be pulled off that final broadcast for a whole other reason.
