FRANKLIN COUNTY, Ohio — After dozens of police and fire calls tied to drugs, overdoses and violence, the Franklin County Sheriff’s Office and prosecutor’s office are taking legal action to close down the New Rome Motel, citing growing safety concerns for nearby residents.
Since January 2024, deputies have been called to the property 80 times. The Prairie Township Fire Department has also responded to 42 separate incidents since 2023.
