BOONES MILL, Va. (WDBJ) – “He’s always going to be the first one in, last one out. That’s kind of what the firefighter motto is,” said Captain Baylor Janney with the Boones Mill Fire Department.
For John Poland, being a Boones Mill firefighter is more than putting on a uniform. It is about working to keep his home and the people in it safe.
“If I needed somebody to work hard or we knew we were going out to do chores, we were testing hydrants, if we were weeding, whatever, the first one I’d pick is John,” Janney said…
