Dona Ana County’s DA to tackle repeat offenders

LAS CRUCES, N.M. (KFOX14/CBS4) — Dona Ana County is making efforts to tackle repeat offenders, according to District Attorney Fernando Macias, on Thursday.

Speaking with KFOX14 on Thursday, Macias addressed the process and challenges his office takes to tackle repeat offenders and keep them in custody.

“If it is an individual who has repeatedly broken the law in a serious nature, has failed to appear at prior hearings, has not cooperated with the court, has committed crimes when they were out on release on another case, this is where we have the greatest chance of holding the individual in custody until there is a final determination in the case,” Macias said…
