Man accused of burglarizing home, stealing police car was free on bond, court records show

AURORA, Colo. — Six days before a man broke into an Aurora home, stole a police car and lead officers on a 30-minute chase through multiple jurisdictions, he was released on bond from the Adams County Detention Center on charges related to a break-in earlier this month, court records obtained by 9NEWS Investigates show.

Brayan Reyes Bernal, was taken into custody Tuesday morning at gunpoint after an Aurora Police Sergeant intentionally rammed the stolen police SUV that Bernal was driving near East Alameda Avenue and North Airport Boulevard.

The call originated at about 8:30 a.m. that morning as a burglary at a home in the 700 block of South Oswego Street, according to the Aurora Police Department (APD)…
