The Boulder County Sheriff’s Office has announced the opening of applications for its upcoming Community Academy, aiming to provide residents with an insightful look into law enforcement operations. Starting from October 23, 2025, through April 9, 2026, the academy is scheduled to run on Thursday evenings, with breaks during the Thanksgiving and Christmas holidays, as reported by the Boulder County Sheriff’s Office.
Intended for individuals eager to learn about various public safety and law enforcement arenas, the program offers both classroom instruction and hands-on experience. Among the topics slated for exploration are patrol procedures, criminal and death investigations, disaster management, and forensic computer investigations. Participants will also delve into identity theft, search and rescue operations, and receive demonstrations from specialized units like K9, SWAT, and bomb disposal.
The academy encompasses active engagement with tactical decision-making and defensive tactics training while also providing tours of the 911 Communications Center and the county jail. Interested community members must be at least 18 years old to apply, and those with prior felony convictions or a misdemeanor conviction within the past year will be ineligible to participate.
