Suspect charged in violent Volunteer Park attack

The King County Prosecutor has charged Eric Moody, 52, with first degree assault, calling the attack “a random and senseless” act.

The Seattle Police Department says Moody turned himself in at the East Precinct days after the assault. “I am claiming to take credit for the attack, I need you to arrest me,” Moody told officers, according to the SPD report on the arrest.

CHS reported here on the Friday, August 15th attack that left its victim bloodied as police searched for the suspect. Prosecutors say Moody’s victim was walking in the park when he attacked her with a large stick, striking her in the head “at least ten times as the victim tried to block the hits and yelled at the defendant to stop.”…
