Tivoli Park Apartments tenants protest after fire

ALBANY — Patrice Edwards was putting her two daughters to bed last Saturday when she heard sirens. It wasn’t unusual; there was always something going on in the city. She even mimicked the sound.

Then the pounding began. Firefighters and police officers were at her front door, evacuating her building in the Tivoli Park Apartments on Livingston Avenue.

Edwards stepped outside and saw her upstairs neighbor coming down the stairs, dragging her two daughters with tears in her eyes. A faulty extension cord plugged into an air conditioner inside the woman’s apartment had sparked a fire…
