Fox tests positive for rabies in Alexandria

ALEXANDRIA, Va. (DC News Now) — A fox in Alexandria tested positive for rabies earlier this week, according to city officials.

The Alexandria Health Department (AHD) issued a warning to residents about a fox that tested positive for rabies in the Del Ray and Rosemont area.

On Aug. 19, that fox came into contact with a cat near a home. The health department is working with the cat’s owner about safe next steps, as there is an increased risk of rabies exposure in the area.

As of Aug. 22, the fox had died…
