Selma fugitive arrested in Lake County

SELMA – A fugitive wanted for two counts of attempted murder and felony firearm charges has been found.

Joseph Mejia, 24, of Selma was arrested in Lake County on Aug. 20. Mejia has been on the run for over a year for two counts of attempted murder and multiple felony firearm charges relating to various incidents in Selma.

The arrest was made through collaborative efforts between Selma Police Department (PD) detectives and the U.S. Marshals Pacific Southwest Regional Fresno and Bay Area Fugitive Apprehension Task Force.

Following the murder attempts and firearm incidents, arrest warrants were obtained for Mejia and he was considered armed and dangerous. Information was obtained in recent months that indicated that Mejia had fled the region, causing Selma PD to partner with the U.S. Marshals Office…
