As the school bell rings in a new academic year, the San Jose Police Department’s diligence has ensured one less threat on the streets. According to a social media post by the San Jose Police Department, a juvenile believed to be gang-affiliated was arrested after officers discovered a stolen handgun and an AR-15 rifle at the minor’s residence. Even during the busy back-to-school rush, local law enforcement is taking steps to secure the safety of San José’s neighborhoods and schools.

In a bid to possibly prevent a tragedy before the school year kicks off, the Foothill Division Officer acted on a tip to successfully locate and retrieve the firearms.
