HIGH POINT, N.C. — A proposed multi-million-dollar homeless shelter in High Point is raising concerns among nearby residents, even as the nonprofit behind the project stresses its goal is to strengthen the community.
George Idol, who has lived in his house for nearly 40 years, said he worries about what the project could mean for the neighborhood.
“Do I feel like it could be a problem? … I’m apprehensive about it,” Idol said. “I think I would pretty well speak for the majority of people around here: No, we would not be interested in that.”…
