Officer injured in North Memphis crash, 17-year-old driver detained

MEMPHIS, Tenn. – A Memphis police officer was injured in a crash early Friday morning in North Memphis, said the Memphis Police Department.

Officers say the accident happened around 3:30 a.m. at the 1600 block of Pope Street.

According to police, the driver of a 2013 Kia Rio was traveling south on Pope Street when it collided head on with a marked squad car.

Both the officer and the driver were taken to the hospital in non-critical condition…
