Southwest Human Resource Agency to Discontinue Commodity Program

The Southwest Human Resource Agency (SWHRA) has announced it will no longer administer the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) Tennessee Emergency Food Assistance Program (TEFAP) Commodity Program effective Tuesday, September 30, 2025. According to the SWHRA, the decision was made by the Tennessee Department of Agriculture. The Commodity Program is administered by the SWHRA in eight counties in West Tennessee, one which includes Hardeman County.

Through the Commodity Program, the agency has been responsible for receiving and storing available food, and distributing it to the receiving counties it serves. Although the last day of distribution, is September 30, Hardeman County is not on a list to receive any more food through that date.

  • Chester, Decatur, Hardin, and Henderson Counties: Second harvest Food Bank at (615) 329-3491
