California licenses revoked of fireworks companies linked to fatal Esparto blast

California officials revoked pyrotechnic licenses from two men whose companies were involved in the deadly fireworks warehouse explosion last month in Yolo County that killed seven people.

Cal Fire said Friday that the Office of the State Fire Marshal revoked various licenses from Kenneth Chee and his company, Devastating Pyrotechnics, and Craig Cutright and his company, Blackstar Fireworks, after an investigation.

Both fireworks companies were licensed by the state to operate at the Esparto property where the explosion happened. But the state fire marshal found evidence that Chee, Cutright and their companies violated state fireworks laws and regulations, including failing to file proper importation documents, report lost fireworks or obtain a local fire permit, according to Cal Fire…
