IOWA CITY, Iowa (KCRG) – The University of Iowa’s College of Liberal Arts and Sciences (CLAS) announced the discontinuation of the Iowa Summer Writing Festival on August 11.
The university cited “ongoing funding challenges” in their announcement and stated that the decision is not a reflection of the dedication of the staff, but rather “the realities of the resources required.”
According to a representative for the university, expenses for the festival have exceeded revenue by an average of $115,000 for each of the past five years.
