The Texas Longhorns have been doing an excellent job recruiting in-state prospects over the past couple of seasons, and they could be trending for another right now.
Under-the-radar prospect Payhton Porter has been a jack-of-all-trades type of player at the prep level, playing linebacker, defensive end, and running back over the past two seasons. Though he’s been fairly productive at running back for the Melissa HS Cardinals, it sounds like most FBS schools are recruiting him as a defensive player, specifically at linebacker.
The 6’3″, 200-pound athlete is extremely long and is able to cover a lot of ground, which bodes well for his outlook as a defensive player at the next level. His length will allow him to occupy larger areas when dropping back into coverage as a WILL linebacker in college, and he’s shown a fairly consistent and technically sound tackling ability as well…
