Northern Nevada Heat Wave: Reno Hits 98°F Today Before Thunderstorm Risk Saturday Night

Reno, Nev. – A dangerous heat wave continues Friday in Reno, where highs near 98°F could push road and trail conditions to unsafe levels before relief arrives with thunderstorms this weekend. The National Weather Service has issued a Heat Advisory until 9 a.m. Friday, warning residents to limit outdoor activity during peak afternoon hours.

According to the National Weather Service in Reno, temperatures will reach the upper 90s again Saturday, followed by a 20 to 50 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms beginning late in the day. Storm chances increase Saturday night into Sunday, with the heaviest rainfall expected along the Sierra front.
