BAKERSFIELD, Calif.(KBAK/KBFX) — A 7-11 store near Bakersfield High School was reportedly ransacked Thursday afternoon by a group of juveniles, resulting in minor injuries to at least one employee. A video circulating on social media shows approximately 10 to 20 juveniles attempting to rob the store as they trashed the location.
Bakersfield Police said officers arrived at the scene around 3:40 p.m., but the suspects had already fled. It remains unclear if anything was stolen during the incident.
The Kern High School District acknowledged the incident, stating, “The district is aware of the incident that occurred at 7-11. Bakersfield High School does not condone violence of any kind. The school and law enforcement personnel are investigating the incident.”
Eric Huggins, owner of a private security company, expressed outrage after viewing the video. “Our job as employees of the store is not to parent these kids, because they’re not our kids,” he said.
