SC gubernatorial candidate responds after arrest video surfaced

SOUTH CAROLINA, USA — The lone Democratic candidate for South Carolina governor Mullins McLeod has responded to calls from the state Democratic Party asking him to drop out after video of his arrest in May surfaced.

On Aug. 14, WCNC Charlotte obtained dash cam footage from the May 2025 incident in Charleston through a Freedom of Information Act Request. In it, McLeod is shown rambling, screaming, using slurs and threatening his political opponents.
