LaVern “Red” Droste
Cedar Rapids, Iowa (August 23, 1964) – Mid-Continent Racing Association point leader Red Droste copped the 50-lap feature and picked up two trophies plus over $350 in prize money at the All-Iowa Fair championship modified stock car races Sunday afternoon.
Droste, the veteran driver from Waterloo whose hard to catch when he’s out front, also won the trophy dash and the semi-main competition on the Fair’s final racing card, attended by over 4,000 fans. …
