BARLING, Ark. (KNWA/KFTA) — The Arkansas Department of Transportation officially broke ground on the Interstate 49 Arkansas River Bridge on Friday, Aug. 22.
The Arkansas River bridge the first of four projects that will make up an I-49 extension that spans from the Canadian border to the Gulf coast. This specific project will connect Fort Smith to Texarkana.
