The fast-expanding Chicago-style street food chain Portillo’s is set to open its fourth Houston-area location this week after a monthslong delay.
The new Stafford restaurant, at the Grid between US-59 Frontage Road and Nexus Avenue, will open Aug. 26 at 10 a.m. The Southwest-themed 6,200-square-foot restaurant is one of the chain’s first “Restaurant of the Future” builds, and will include two drive-thru lanes and room for more than 160 diners. The restaurant will feature Chicago-style hot dogs, Italian beef sandwiches, burgers and Portillo’s Famous Chocolate Cake.
The company announced last summer it would open three new locations in Texas by the end of the year, with two in the Houston area. The company opened restaurants in Willowbrook, Katy and Richmond in recent years, making Texas the chain’s largest market outside its home state of Illinois…
