People pile into treasurer’s office after statewide outage

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO) – Long lines are forming at the Minnehaha County Treasurer’s office in Sioux Falls.

On Tuesday, the State of South Dakota faced a computer outage that impacted many state agencies, with the blackout lasting until late Wednesday afternoon.

UPDATE: Systems back online after state computer outage

Due to the outage, the Minnehaha County Treasurer’s office was unable to access the records necessary to issue license plates and vehicle registrations, causing many people having to be turned away on Wednesday.

The shutdown caused the Supreme Court to issue a judicial emergency in South Dakota. When the network systems were back up and operating, the Court rescinded the emergency on Thursday…
