SALT LAKE CITY (KUTV) — Salt Lake County District Attorney Sim Gill declined to file charges against the U.S. Marshals who shot and injured a wanted probation fugitive during an incident in Sugar House.
Daniel Lynn Meinhart, 42, was shot while the U.S. Marshals Service Violent Fugitive Apprehension Strike Team (VFAST) was attempting to apprehend him near 2100 South and 950 East in November 2024.
According to Gill, responding officers used multiple less-than-lethal shots while attempting to subdue Meinhart, who refused to comply and leave his vehicle. But at least one officer fired a “lethal” round…
