Las Vegas audiences are getting a double dose of Donny Osmond — thanks to a little AI magic and a talented grandson. Donny’s grandson, 14-year-old Daxton Osmond, joined him on stage for a “surreal” duet of the iconic hit “Puppy Love.” Using AI technology and Daxton’s live performance, the show created the illusion of Donny singing with his teenage self.
In a recent Instagram post, Donny shared a video of the performance, marveling at the family resemblance. Daxton, dressed in a vintage Osmonds-era outfit, complete with a floral shirt and newsboy cap, channeled his grandfather’s signature moves and vocal inflections.
“It was mind-blowing watching my grandson perform ‘Puppy Love’,” Donny wrote. “Seeing him use so many similar moves and inflections that I also used 50 years ago…
Wow! Genetics are crazy.”
The video captures a touching exchange between Donny and Daxton. “What is it like for me to play you?”
Daxton asks. “It’s actually a little strange,” Donny admits.
“When you were up here singing and doing certain mannerisms, it’s really weird, but I used to do the same things. I watched you and I said, ‘Wow, that is me 50 years ago!'”
Fans were equally impressed, flooding the comments section with praise for Daxton’s performance and the uncanny resemblance to his famous grandfather. “The apple doesn’t fall from the tree!” one fan exclaimed.
Donny previously explained the technical wizardry behind the duet in a May 2025 video, describing how AI was used to transform Daxton’s voice and appearance to match a younger Donny. He called the performance “nostalgic,” “emotional,” and unlike anything he’s ever done before.
Donny Osmond’s Las Vegas residency at Harrah’s continues with shows Tuesdays through Saturdays at 7:30 pm.
