CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. — The University of Tennessee at Chattanooga experienced a campus lockdown as Welcome Week concluded, following a false report of an active shooter. No injuries were reported despite a 911 call claiming otherwise.
Ahmad Salmen, a UTC student, recounted the moment the alert was issued. “UTC staff came up to us and he was like, ‘Hey guys, we just got a warning about an active shooter. We need you guys to grab your stuff and go in the locker room,'” he said.
UTC Chief of Campus Police Sean O’Brien detailed the false report, saying, “describing a white male with an AR-15, and that shots have been fired. Four people have been shot.”
