Man accused of directing sprinklers on disabled neighbors getting off bus

OCALA, Fla. (WFLA) — A man in Florida was arrested and charged with multiple felonies after directing his sprinklers on disabled victims as they got on and off a school bus, the Marion County Sheriff’s Office said.

In April, Corporal Kyle Ferguson responded to a home after a report that Antonio Roman, 61, was intentionally spraying the family next door with sprinklers. The family said it had been going on since August 2024, and that Roman activated the sprinklers twice a day as two of the victims, both with special needs, got on and off the bus. MCSO said one of the victims was a minor and the other was an adult.

Ferguson learned that the attacks were so frequent, the father began wearing swimming gear to try and shield his children from the spray. The detective conducted surveillance of Roman’s home and saw that the sprinklers, which were aimed directly at the bus stop, came on when the bus arrived and turned off as soon as it left.

Roman later told the detective that he was upset about the location of the bus stop and that it used part of his driveway for the wheelchair ramp one of the victims needed.
