Richmond announces meeting for project “Refresh” aimed at helping The City’s zoning

RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) — The City of Richmond announced it will host an advisory Council Meeting Wednesday, Sept. 10 for project “Refresh.”

The meeting will be held from 4 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. at City Hall’s fifth floor conference room. The City has previously held three open houses on June 25 and 26, to do the following:

  • Allow the public to engage with both planning staff and members of the Code Refresh consultant team.
  • To learn more about the draft zoning districts uses, zoning map.
  • The progress of the Zoning Code Refresh.

Code Refresh was initiated in February 2024, after which an analysis of the existing ordinance was completed.

The current zoning in Richmond dates back to 1976, and while changes have been made, according to a webinar posted by The City, the zoning code is not aligned to “Richmond 300.”…
