Hundreds of Target workers have been fired from Little Village warehouse over a fraud involving the company’s medical benefits program, prompting the company to begin a hiring spree.
Workers at Target’s distribution center at 3501 S. Pulaski Road in Chicago “took advantage of the company’s medical loan program”, revealed a report from Block Club Chicago. This comes after Target announced it was ending its partnership with beauty brand Ulta.
Employees were eligible for loans over $3,000 to cover medical costs. Current employees told Block Club that the employees who were fired found a flaw in the system that let them repay just $50 of the loan, with the rest of the balance disappearing from the company’s records.
