A New Orleans man has pleaded guilty in a federal carjacking case and now faces up to 15 years in prison, fines, and supervised release. Rashuad Fontenberry, 33, entered the plea before U.S. District Judge Brandon S. Long on Tuesday, with sentencing scheduled for December 2, according to the U.S. Attorney’s Office.
The case stems from a September 5, 2022 incident in which a victim stopped at a gas station and was approached by Fontenberry and another man. Fontenberry, appearing to have a firearm, demanded her keys and phone. The victim complied, and the two men attempted to flee in her vehicle but abandoned the car and ran when bystanders intervened. Both were later identified and arrested.
Fontenberry faces up to 15 years in prison, a fine, and up to three years of supervised release, in addition to a mandatory $100 special assessment. A pre-sentence report will be completed before the December hearing to determine the final sentence…
