HCBB calls for type-O donations after several die in New York bus crash

BAKERSFIELD, Calif.(KBAK/KBFX) — In the wake of a tragic tour bus crash on a New York highway that claimed several lives and injured numerous others, the Houchin Community Blood Bank (HCBB) is urging residents to donate blood to aid those affected.

The accident occurred on Friday afternoon when a tour bus carrying more than 50 passengers lost control and overturned on the New York State Thruway.

Officials have activated the Blood Emergency Readiness Coalition (BERC) to ensure that lifesaving blood is available for the victims. HCBB, a member of BERC, is currently shipping type-O blood to hospitals treating the injured passengers…
