Courageous Healing, a mental health and wellness nonprofit in Fort Wayne, Indiana, has announced a $1 million grant from the Mobile Crisis Accelerator Program, an initiative of Black Onyx Management.
The award will fund the launch of a mobile crisis unit (MCU) serving Allen County, with a focus on neighborhoods most impacted by violence, poverty, and barriers to behavioral health care. The MCU will pair licensed clinicians with trained peer support specialists to deliver real-time, on-site de-escalation, assessment, and linkage to care. To that end, the MCU will operate in coordination with 988, 911, and local service providers to reduce reliance on emergency rooms and law enforcement for behavioral health crises.
“We’ve seen firsthand the gaps in crisis care that leave people without the help they need,” said Courageous Healing co-founder Aaron Lane. “This $1 million grant gives us the tools, staff, and partnerships to respond immediately, provide compassionate support, and help residents connect to ongoing services that promote long-term healing.”…
