North Florida Manatees are dying at a higher rate than in the last 2 years

DUVAL COUNTY, Fla. – Manatees in North Florida are dying at a higher rate than they were in 2023 and 2024, including five deaths in Duval County in June, according to the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission data.

The FWC said in June 2025, three died during perinatal, one at a canal lock, and another is undetermined.
