OAK RIDGE, Tenn. — A ribbon cutting was held Saturday at the William J. Wilcox Jr. Interpretive Center on the K-25 Site. The center honors the history of the K-25 Gaseous Diffusion Plant and the historian it’s named after.
“Bill was a good friend of mine; he was the first historian for the city of Oak Ridge. And he had the dream of how to interpret the K-25 Gaseous Diffusion Plant and I believe he would be very proud of what we’ve done here today,” said Ray Smith, Oak Ridge historian.
Representatives from the Department of Energy, the City of Oak Ridge, and United Clean Up Oak Ridge spoke at the event, as well as Lt. Governor Randy McNally and members of the Wilcox family…
