Alcoa City Commissioners met in regular session Aug. 12, but before getting down to the nitty-gritty city business, they had a few special guests to introduce.
A month after the Maryville City Council adopted a proclamation recognizing International Missy Barrett Day, a day promoting good deeds in the fashion of its fictional namesake, Sevierville-based author Elyse Bruce returned to Blount County to receive the honor in the neighboring Alcoa City.
Bruce, who was accidentally overlooked at first and considered absent on reading, took the opportunity to thank commissioners and attendees for giving her the chance to show what International Missy Barrett Day really means…
