Southern New York Weather Alert: Cold Front Brings Storms and Cooler Air by Monday

New York, NY – A muggy Sunday across the New York metro could turn stormy by evening, as an approaching cold front pushes inland showers and isolated thunderstorms into the region. Afternoon temperatures will hover in the low to mid-80s across most of the area, with highs topping out at 85°F in parts of New Jersey.

According to the National Weather Service in New York, increased humidity from a southerly flow is fueling the risk for pop-up storms from the Hudson Valley down through northern New Jersey this afternoon and evening. Areas northwest of New York City, including Poughkeepsie and West Milford, may see scattered downpours and a few rumbles of thunder before midnight.

Conditions will remain unsettled into the overnight hours as the front moves through, with additional showers possible across eastern Long Island and southern Connecticut. Bridgeport, New Haven, and Montauk could see light rain after midnight as a weak offshore low skirts the coast…
